(Kyodo) _ Japan and the Confederation of Indian Industry agreed Thursday to enhance cooperation in the fields of environment technology and energy, as well as to establish a special economic zone in India for Japanese businesses, the confederation's president said.

"India is very keen to have support from the Japanese industry and Japanese government for environment technology," R. Seshasayee said after meeting Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe in Tokyo.

"(Mr.) Abe also suggested that we should focus on energy since India is short of energy and there is a great deal of business opportunity," Seshasayee said.

The two sides also shared the view that increasing the number of flights between Japan and India will be necessary to enhance business on both sides, he said.
