In early November the Model United Nations club members embarked on a journey to attend The Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN) in Singapore. This year¡¯s THIMUN-Singapore conference hosted over 50 schools and 700 students. Our school represented the countries of Cote d¡¯Ivoire, Syria and the World Bank organization on a 4 day debate on global issues such as gender equality, the protection of stateless people, the use of death penalty, migration issues, and the use of diamonds.

The MUN members not only improved their debating, speaking and listening skills but also built valuable friendships through actively cooperating and interacting with each other. ?Moreover, the MUN members really practiced real-world skills that many teachers and parents encourage.

The team was happy to spend quality time with intelligent people in this THIMUN conference.

In this conference, I represented the country of Cote D¡¯ivoire, and researched the topic of International Migration on Development. I helped produce a resolution that got passed by the committee and was sent to the General Assembly.
THIMUN was a great experience for me; I learned that if we can all work together and put our minds to a crisis, we can solve it for sure. THIMUN has taught me how to be a confident delegate, a thoughtful person, and a responsible global citizen.
