In early January, I, along with many others particapted in the ‘Refuse Plastic Bags’ campaign in Shenzhen city. Many environmental protection authorities and environmentalists came and gave a speech on what Shenzhen is doing and are going to do in the near future. I, luckily, also got a chance to share what my school, my friends and I did to stop people from using plastic bags in our community. The event also showed short videos and included games to educate the residents on how important it is to refuse plastic bags. They then handed out about 5000 free shopping bags to the city residents. Through this event, many people , including me got a clearer idea on the harm that plastic bags may give us.
